Albany Medical Center | Cafeteria and Servery Renovation

“Every building deserves the maximum amount of artistic exploration with a considered, deliberate approach. We seek to create spaces which impart feelings that you’re a participant in something exceptional, where function leads to calm, awe or inspiration. Our core values strive to convey that quality in every project we touch, from the modest to the extravagant.” ~Fredrick Franko, Director of Design

Albany Medical Center | Cafeteria and Servery Renovation

  • Project Size: 191,000-sf
  • Project Location: 1275 Broadway, Albany, NY 12204
  • Project Team: Albany Medical Center
  • Completion Date: April 2015
  • Construction Cost: $3.5 Million
  • Owner Contact: Briggs Montero, Vice President of Facilities
  • Project Request:

To upgrade an outdated kitchen and cafeteria and create a larger modern preparation, serving, and seating areas to accommodate the medical center’s 400+ staff.

  • Project Solution:

Working with the kitchen operator and an equipment vendor, we designed a custom service line and seating area. A center island between the servery and seating provides microwaves, vending, and condiments to allow the cafeteria to be used 24/7 and also anchors two rolling grilles that allow the servery to be locked when not in use. Three different seating areas provide variety – from individual private seating to large groups.
