The Saratoga Hospital Malta Medical Campus was intended to allow Saratoga Hospital to consolidate various functions into one overall location, creating synergies with other services and expanding on the “Medical Village” concept of health care delivery. Hyman Hayes Associates was asked to design a new outpatient cardiology center within shell space at the Malta Medical Campus. The project allows for relocation and expansion of the current program.
The new facility was designed as a typical clinic space providing eight exam rooms surrounding a centrally located nurses’ station, except the clinic provides larger exam rooms to accommodate specialty functions, including day treatment room, echo room, and a stress lab, and also provides a cardiac rehab space. The day treatment room provides for longer treatments requiring IV and monitoring. As such, the room has an exterior window and is located near a toilet room for patient convenience and to the nurses’ station for staff control. A key component of the project is the cardiac rehab space within the clinic that allows post procedure patients to use a variety of exercise equipment while being monitored by a clinician and centrally located telemetry equipment.
